• Durga Puja:- This festival is celebrated for period of 9days.Durga puja is the victory of good thing over evil powers. The festival of nine nights is celebrated in the month of October, and Goddess Durga comes to this earth with her nine incarnations and different manifestation. The tenth day is known as “Vijaya Dashami” which epitomizes the victory of Lord Ram over the Demon King Ravana. In this day the effigies of Kumbha Karan and Meghanad, the duo brothers of Ravana are burnt.

• Pongal:-This festival is a major festival of Tamilnadu. After harvesting pongal is celebrated for three days with gaiety, pomp and excitements. Pongal is a sweet dish of Tamilnadu. Bhogi ponagl is offered to rain God, Surya Pongal is offered to Sun God and Mattu Pongal is to cattles .Sun, rain and cattles are the three are the prime helping factors for agriculture .In each year in the month of January it is celebrated.

• Holi:- Known as the festival of colors. On this auspicious occasion India welcomes the season of spring and end of winters. • Eid:-The meaning of this festival is breaking of fasting. It is the end of the Muslim month of fasting. Basically, Muslims wait for a new moon after one month of fasting. • Guru Nanak jayanti: - main festival of Sikhs, the birthday of the founder father of Sikh religion Guru Nanak. This festival is celebrated in the month of October or November. Sikhs celebrate this day by visiting Gurudwaras and offering of prayers to Guru Nanak. The same day people of Sikh community gather at one place and start visiting the city with singing of hymns and indulge in divine practices like distribution of Langar or common meal to every one.
